Facilities

BaseSpace.net is a small operation, and we try to keep our overhead low. Our data center is located in the basement of our recently built townhouse, conveniently near Porter Square in Cambridge. Cooling is provided by an environmentally sustainable ground source heat pump system, with a conventional split-system AC unit as backup.

Our space is designed to accomodate both desktop/tower machines and rack-mountable units. We have Uninterruptible Power Supplies for power backup, and we offer network-accessible power strips, enabling you to power-cycle your colocated server remotely.

We constantly strive to maintain and improve our facilities and, whenever possible, to select environmentally friendly materials and practices.

Network

We enjoy fully redundant connectivity, with a land-line T1 uplink to Cogent and a 1.5 Mbit wireless WAN link to TowerStream. We BGP announce routes to our IP space (as Autonomous System Number 30183) via both uplinks.
